The Klon Centaur splits the signal into a clean path and a germanium-diode overdrive path and mixes them back together in an op-amp summing stage run from an ICL7660 charge pump (about 18V, plus a negative rail), so the mixer never clips. A dual-gang Gain pot raises the overdrive gain while lowering the clean blend, and the Treble control is an active treble boost/cut. The author built one on a toner-transfer PCB in a Hammond BB box and found it a nice booster but only an OK overdrive, planning a version with separate gain and blend pots and a different op amp (an LF353) in the drive stage.

The author suggests separate Gain and Blend pots in place of the dual-gang pot, a diode blend pot to mix two clipping voices, and an LF353 in place of the TL072 in the buffer/overdrive section.
