All-time classic fuzz heard on a zillion classic recordings. The bedrock of many a classic tone.

The PCB with this kit keeps it simple. You can build NPN or PNP versions, but there's no onboard voltage inverter, so PNP will require isolated supply or battery power. NPN builds are ready to play with any other standard polarity circuits on a power daisy chain.

Versions available with this board are:

• Texas Square Face (NPN Ge)

• No cans please - I have some sweet action of my own.

If you opt for the Mullards (they're suuur-weeeet) you'll have to mount them horizontally, lying back over the pots, otherwise they'll be too tall to get into the enclosure.

The basic circuit comes in two flavours: Original and Roger Mayer Hendrix Modded. Mayer has slightly higher output level - recommended for germanium versions which tend to max out at below-unity gain.

We've included the option to go for a Reverse Log (C) taper pot for the fuzz control on all versions. It's just better - fact.

There are extra pads for the transistors so you can easily mount non-standard pinouts for those sweet Russian cans that are still avalable out there. See the build doc for details.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knobs are not included.
