From the vendor

Nick Greer's high-gain distortion, sold as a preamp plus 'power amp' design voiced after a dying vintage Marshall Lead. The trace shows a J201 JFET booster with a trimmer on the drain feeding the Gain pot and an LM386 power amp chip that does the distortion, followed by the Volume pot and a simple treble-cut Tone control. The post's author is not a fan of 386 distortions because of their note decay.

Fixes to the schematic, from the post

  • The output capacitor after the LM386 is marked '???' on the drawing; it is 100n.
Check before you build · 1 value the reader of this schematic was not sure of
  • The tone capacitor is marked '.01uF*'; the asterisk is not explained.
