The Sola Sound / Colorsound Tone Bender MKII Professional, a three-transistor germanium fuzz with huge gain and sustain, the sound of Jimmy Page's Led Zeppelin I era. Sola Sound also built it for Vox (Tone Bender Professional MKII), Marshall (Supa Fuzz) and Rotosound. A single germanium input stage feeds a direct-coupled pair with feedback from the output collector, positive ground on a -9V supply.

Recommended gains: Q1 about 70 hFE, Q2 70-90 hFE, Q3 100-120 hFE. Always use a germanium transistor for Q1; Q2 and Q3 can be experimented with using low-gain silicon transistors.
