Heads up Builders widely report inconsistent quality from PCB Guitar Mania boards, and whether a given board works is a gamble. Read recent forum reports before ordering.

Project overview

We took each side of the fantastic Protein Drive and made separate pedals. The Proton Green is the Green Side inspired by the classic ODR-1 transparent overdrive, while the Proton Blue is based on the OD.

If you want to build a classic low gain transparent overdrive with a modern twist of refinement that works beautifully well with a clean amp, Proton Green is the take for you!

Introduction

The Green Side is based on the “Nashville” overdrive ODR-1, one of the most popular Natural Overdrives ever made, especially appreciated by many leading musicians in Nashville for its clarity and full, natural sound.

The board comes with all the smoothness of the original source and substantial improvements made by David Brown from Browne Amplification. Dave lowered the amount of gain (distortion) to make it usable through the entire sweep of the pedal, added some of the mids back to make it not entirely scooped, and eliminated some of the woofiness in the low end. This allows it to add some low mid “beef” back into your tone without becoming muddy.

You can have the classic Green Side or Blue Side as separated pedals or build the Protein Dual Overdrive and stack them together in every possible way!
