Bjorn Juhl's buffer and clean boost, the same buffer and boost that sit inside the BJFe 'Deluxe' drives, giving up to about 15dB. It is a single 2N5952 JFET stage: in bypass it runs as a unity-gain buffer, and when engaged the footswitch grounds the Boost pot's wiper so the source bypass sets the gain. It runs from 8 to 18V for more headroom.
Select the JFET for about 4.5V on the drain (or one you like the sound of). Run it from 18V for extra gain and headroom.
