From the vendor
Pete Moore's hybrid Rangemaster: a low-gain germanium OC44 in Darlington with a silicon 2N4402, with a 100k trimmer between them that dials in how much germanium grit the circuit has. The author prefers it to the silicon Rangepig for its tweakability.
MartyMart built it with an OC44 and a 2N3906 and used 47n input and output caps for a more full-range boost.
