A cut-down BrontoBoost: a 2N3906 emitter-follower buffer and tone network feeding a single 2SB54 germanium stage, with a gain pot, a clipping diode pair and a tone trimmer at the output.
A jumper (stock) or a resistor (10K, 33K, 100K) in the socket by the .0047uF cap reduces highs. Install a cap (1.0uF, .08uF, .047uF) in the socket at the tone trimmer for a tone control; leave it empty for full frequency response and gain.
