Another Fuzz Face hybrid, designed for Gary Tamas, with much more tone control: a dual-gang 'Fat' control that also feeds gain-stage feedback to Q2's base, a dual-gang tone control, and a third 2N3906 gain stage to restore bite. The pregain is a switched pot that bypasses itself.
Set the control to 'fat' and tune the 10K trim until the squeal stops. Definition is tuned by the .005uF cap (drawing calls it C2); try values from .1 to .005. The optional 10K resistor reduces treble bite when the guitar volume is lowered. Use a hot germanium transistor for Q2 and bias it to -4.5V with the 20K trim.
