D*A*M's updated Rangemaster: a single NPN germanium transistor booster with a Range control that sweeps from treble boost through full range to bass boost, and a trimmer to set the bias. The post builds it from a vero layout copied from the D*A*M board.

Set the trimmer for about 6.66V on the transistor collector. Use an NPN germanium transistor with an hFE of about 100; higher hFE gives more grit.
