Mictester's sound-alike of the Buzzaround that needs only one germanium transistor. A TL072 op-amp gain stage replaces the original two-transistor amplifier, the heart is the original germanium distortion stage (with an NPN 2N1302), and the second op-amp half buffers the tone circuit so Timbre works over its full range. The author preferred it to his Buzzaround clone.
You can raise the first stage's gain by increasing its 100K feedback resistor (R4). Use a 2N1302 with an hFE of about 80 and a bit of leakage for it to work properly.
