The blog author's simplification of the Clay Jones Overdrive, itself revealed as a Landgraff Dynamic Overdrive / Tube Screamer 808 variant. Following Jack Orman's Son of a Screamer, the input and output transistor buffers are removed; the rest is the CJOD: a non-inverting OPA2134 gain stage with red LEDs in the feedback loop, then the Tube Screamer tone control and volume. The author finds it sounds as good as or better than the original with fewer parts.
The drawing stresses that the OPA2134 op-amp and the red LED clippers are essential.
