Fred Briggs' modified Lovepedal COT50 (Church of Tone 50), a single-transistor 2N5088 booster with a pair of clipping diodes to ground at the output. He raised the input and output caps (47n/100n to 56n/120n) for more bass, swapped the 1N60 diodes for softer 1N270 germanium diodes, added a 47n cap across the diodes to tame the fizz, and added a Nature pot that blends from a full boost to a Rangemaster-style treble boost beside the original Structure (gain) control.
Reduce the 47n cap across the diodes (C6) for more highs. The Electric Church Pedal variant adds a 470k master volume pot at the end of the circuit and a pot (about 10k) controlling the diodes' clipping threshold. A reader's sound sample compares BC108 and 2N5088 transistors at low, medium and full gain.
