A modified version of the the Lumpy’s Tone Shop 7 Series Lemon Drop Overdrive – An overdrive board based on a super rare 1960’s VOX 4&7 series amps that combined a tube power amp, a solid state preamp with a built-in fuzz circuit – craziness! Think Revolver and Led Zeppelin II and you’ve got it.
The board uses three controls (Volume, Filter & Drive). We’ve also added an optional extra trim pot on the board with an extra toggle – this allows you to set 2 different bias’ – one for single coil pickups, one for humbuckers. The board is REALLY responsive to your guitars volume control, you can back the drive of just by lowering the input from the guitar.
Biasing this board is easy, install all the components, flip to toggle so that the SNG Trimmer is engaged, and bias as per below – then flip the toggle so the HUM Trimmer is engaged adjust as needed. These are just what we found to be the sweet spots, you do you!
Suggest Bias:
With single pickup selected, bias drain on q2 voltage to: 4.84
With humbucker pickup selected, bias drain on q2 voltage to: 6+
Note: The toggle switch will need to be mounted externally, do not mount it on the board…otherwise you’ll have to externally mount the pots – it’s made this way to keep the board footprint smaller.
